The International Montessori School (IMS) was founded to enable each child to develop their individual gifts and talents within a caring, supportive, and respectful dual-language (English & Mandarin) Montessori learning community. We are seeking a dynamic, native-speaking Chinese Teacher to join our Adolescent (12-14) team at the Stanley Campus. While the primary responsibility is Chinese language instruction, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our bilingual program by integrating Mathematical concepts and supporting adolescents through inquiry-driven, project-based work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Chinese language lessons.

• Lead the instruction of concepts through the Chinese language in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL).

• Work within a cross-curricular team to ensure the Chinese curriculum meshes seamlessly with the English program and aligns with Montessori pedagogy.

• Assist in the design and implementation of project-based inquiry.

• Provide pastoral care (emotional, physical, and social) to support student development.

• Prepare written student evaluations for both academic development and social behavior and maintain accurate records of student progress.

• Assist in planning and attending extended immersive experiences, including trips or outdoor learning.

• Responsible for the care and maintenance of classroom materials and must involve the students in this responsibility to foster independence.

•  The role includes overseeing the selection and implementation of appropriate Chinese computer technology within the classroom.

• Establish positive relationships with parents and communicate regularly regarding student needs and progress.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in education, Language Education, or a related field, complemented by a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., PGDE, or equivalent).

• A teacher qualification in Mathematics is highly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to lead Mathematics instruction or support math-integrated projects.

• Native Putonghua speaker with a Certificate of Proficiency in Putonghua (First Class). Fluency in written Traditional Chinese is essential.

• A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience within a recognized educational institution.

• AMI Montessori Adolescent Diploma (ages 12-14) is preferred, or willingness to undergo training.

• Patient, friendly, and collaborative, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Applicants must possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
