Job Summary:

To lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the hotel/hostel, ensuring an exceptional guest experience, operational efficiency, and team engagement. The Hostel Manager will bring energy, passion, and innovation to the role, driving continuous improvement and fostering a vibrant hostel culture aligned with the organization’s mission.

Principal Accountabilities:

Leadership & People Management

• Oversee all aspects of hostel operations including front office, housekeeping, room maintenance, room sales and guest services.

• Lead and inspire a diverse team to deliver high-quality service and a welcoming environment for guests.

• Implement operational strategies that enhance guest satisfaction, staff performance, and financial results.

Guest Experience

• Act as an ultimate host – ensuring your presence is warm and memorable. By doing so, you will also inspire the team.

• Proactively manage online reviews and respond to guest feedback.

• Develop activities that the in-house guests can enjoy and give a sense of belonging.

Financial & Commercial Management

• Manage the hostel’s P&L, budgeting and forecasting to achieve financial targets.

• Manage inventory and ordering for all supplies under front office, housekeeping, room maintenance, room sales and guest services.

Operations & Administration

• Manage stakeholder relationships and represent the hostel in community and industry events.

• Prepare reports and updates for senior leadership, including performance metrics and improvement plans.

Others

• Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards.

• Drive initiatives that promote sustainability, community engagement, and digital transformation.

• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support strategic goals.

• Identify opportunities for innovation and lead change initiatives to improve hostel operations.

• Secondment may be required for special projects, depending on operational needs and strategic priorities.
  

Person Requirement:

Education Level

• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Hotel Administration, or a related discipline.

Area of Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in hotel or hostel management.

• Strong leadership skills with a passion for youth engagement and hospitality.

• Energetic, vibrant, and adaptable personality with a hands-on approach.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-building abilities.

• Familiarity with hotel/ hostel management systems and digital tools.

Other Professional Qualifications/Technical Skills/Knowledge Required

• Experience in launching or transforming hotel/ hostel operations.

• Background in community-based hospitality or youth-focused programs.

• A mindset for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

Language Proficiency

• Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
