Job Posting Details

The University is now looking for a high caliber candidate to join our Staff Quarter and Student Hostel (SQSH) unit of Building Services (operation & maintenance) team.

 

The appointee will be responsible for participating in the operation and maintenance of the University’s mechanical ventilation, air conditioning and electrical installations in SQSH. This includes unitary air-conditioners, fan coil units, air handling units, ventilation fans and the building management system, ensuring that these systems are operated and maintained in a safe, reliable and efficient manner throughout the accommodation areas.

 

The appointee is expected to perform the following duties:

 

  • Oversee and monitor the progress and quality of work from maintenance contractors and work contractors;
  • Monitor manpower and stock levels of materials and equipment for routine repair and maintenance works;
  • Identify opportunities to improve the operation and maintenance of BS facilities / systems;
  • Collaborate with internal parties, end-users and contractors on planned maintenance, daily operation, replacement, improvement and upgrading works;
  • Engage in hands-on maintenance work on Building Services installations in accommodation areas;
  • Prepare reports using MS Office applications;
  • Perform shift duties and attend to emergency calls and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

 

Applicants should have a diploma/certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related disciplines plus at least 3 years of relevant work experience.  A good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua), and proficiency in MS Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word) are essential.  The ideal candidate should also have ability to work independently, and having achieved Grade A electrical worker is an advantage.

 

Extensive work experience with operation and maintenance of large scale of central chiller plant system is definitely an advantage.  Applicants with lower academic qualification but with extensive relevant work experience will also be considered. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
